Sales of precious metals at commodity exchange doubled
At the Uzbek Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange, sales of precious metals have more than doubled.
In 2023, 1.8 tons of precious metals were sold through exchange trading for a total amount of 1.13 trillion soums, of which 99% came from trading in gold. The amount of silver sales on the UZEX platform amounted to only 2.6 billion soums.
Compared to 2022, sales of precious metals increased 2.2 times.
In the period from January to December last year, exchange quotations of gold increased from 684.8 thousand soums to 786.0 thousand soums per 1 gram.
According to the Central Bank, at the end of 2023, the price of a gram of gold increased by 22.8% - from 691 thousand soums to 850 thousand soums.
The starting price for precious metals on the UZEX platform is determined based on the latest morning fixing of the London Bullion Market Association in national currency at the Central Bank exchange rate on the date of the exchange transaction.
