A road bridge collapsed in Kashkadarya
It was caused by a lorry driver who tried to cross a faulty bridge instead of using the detour.
In Mubarak district of Kashkadarya region, a road bridge on top of which a heavy vehicle was climbing collapsed. According to the information service of the district administration, the incident happened on February 16.
It was reported that the bridge built in 1982 at the 17th kilometer of the highway “Mubarak – Pamuq – Alang – Nishon” passing through the territory of Mubarak district has fallen into disrepair due to the regular movement of heavy goods.
Currently, traffic on the bridge is completely restricted, informational road signs have been installed and a temporary detour has been established for vehicular traffic.
However, on February 16, 2024, the reinforced concrete slabs of the heavy vehicle were broken and collapsed due to the fact that a heavy vehicle was traveling on a faulty bridge instead of a roundabout. No casualties have been observed in the incident.
It is noted that the reconstruction of this bridge is scheduled for 2024, and it is planned to be fully reconstructed and commissioned in the 2nd quarter of the year.
