German company Rhenus SE&Co. KG plans to build a multimodal transport and logistics center in the Andijan region, the press service of the state company “Uztemiryulcontainer” reported.
During Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s September visit to Germany, Uzbekistan Railways and Rhenus agreed on the construction of a multimodal logistics center. The agreement involves the creation of a joint venture UzContargo Andijan based on a logistics center in Andijan.
Until 2026, €20 million will be invested in the project. In the future, the logistics center will be able to process up to 250-300 thousand tons of cargo annually.
The multimodal center will allow for multimodal transportation, create container loading and unloading zones, open and closed customs warehouses, and also handle heavy cargo.
The official opening ceremony of the UzContargo Andijan joint venture is scheduled for the end of March this year.
Previously, it was reported that Kazakhstan plans to simplify the transit of cargo transportation from Uzbekistan.
