Inflation in Uzbekistan nears 2.6% in Q1
From January to April, the increase in consumer prices in Uzbekistan was 2.59%. In April alone, consumer prices rose by 0.93%, according to the Statistics Agency.
In April, the rise in consumer prices accelerated slightly compared to the same period last year (0.82%), recording a 0.93% increase. By the end of the month, the annual inflation rate reached 8.08%. Despite a modest rise in March, this figure is significantly lower when compared to previous years. For instance, in April 2023, it was 11%.
Throughout the month, food product inflation dropped to 0.4%, three times lower than in April of the previous year. Annually, food prices have increased by 7%.
In April, fruits led the price increases (+3%). Bananas and tangerines saw a price rise of 9.9% and 7.5%, respectively, throughout the month. However, prices of dairy products fell by 2.7%, and vegetables decreased by 1.2%.
Prices for manufactured products went up by 1% monthly and 7.7% annually. In April, clothing and footwear prices remained nearly unchanged, with increases of 5.8% and 5.5% respectively throughout the year.
In April, the price of gasoline decreased by 1.8%. Methane gas, however, became 3% more expensive (an annual increase of 22.4%).
