Ulugbek Rashitov secures Uzbekistan's second gold at Paris Olympics

Ulugbek Rashitov, a taekwondo athlete from Uzbekistan, secured the gold medal at the Paris Olympics after defeating Jordan's Zaid Abdul Karim in a thrilling final match.

Rashitov’s victory in Paris adds to his already impressive record, as he previously triumphed over the same opponent during the Asian Games held in September 2023.

Earlier in the 2024 Olympics, Rashitov faced off against Spain's Javier Perez, a 27-year-old athlete who is the 2019 World Championship silver medalist and European Games champion. Rashitov's victory over Perez set the stage for his final showdown with Abdul Karim.

This gold marks the second Olympic gold medal for Uzbekistan at the 2024 Paris Games, further solidifying the country’s presence on the global sporting stage.

It is noteworthy that this is Ulugbek's second gold in the Olympic Games. In Tokyo 2020, he earned his first medal as the champion.
