Senators discuss liability for unlicensed practitioners and amendments to healthcare laws
The Senate Committee on Science, Education, and Healthcare of the Oliy Majlis recently convened to review a series of proposed laws, set to be included in the agenda for the upcoming plenary session of the upper house. These legislative discussions aim to address pressing issues in the medical and educational sectors.
One of the key proposals is the law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of Uzbekistan." This law introduces administrative liability for individuals offering medical diagnostic and treatment services without the proper authorization to practice traditional medicine. It also targets those who provide services using unauthorized traditional medicine methods for personal financial gain. Additionally, the law seeks to curb the public promotion of such unapproved medical practices.
In the same session, senators reviewed the draft law "On Psychological Assistance to the Population." This legislation outlines the principles, objectives, forms, and standards for providing psychological support services to citizens, reflecting the government's commitment to mental health care.
Further discussions focused on the law "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan" concerning the regulation of educational activities. Lawmakers stressed the importance of amending the "Law on Education" to establish clear guidelines for conducting educational work. They also noted that the Administrative Code will include penalties for violating these newly defined standards in educational activities.
