Heating and hot water tariffs in Tashkent to rise by 15%

The tariffs for heating and hot water supply in Tashkent will be raised. This was announced in a decision by the People's Deputies' Council of the capital, which approved the proposal on September 12.

For the population, the new retail tariff for heating and hot water supply services will rise by 15%, increasing from 105,754 UZS/Gcal to 121,617 UZS. The last price increase occurred on April 2 of this year, after the end of the previous heating season.

The tariff for legal entities will also rise by 15%, from 212,606 UZS/Gcal to 244,497 UZS. The last increase for them was at the end of 2023. The exact date when the new tariffs will take effect has not been specified.

In February of this year, the company Veolia Energy Tashkent submitted a proposal to the council to raise the heating and hot water tariffs for Tashkent residents by 15%. According to the head of the company, the city's population pays only 14% of the basic tariff, with the rest being covered by city budget subsidies.

It is worth noting that one-quarter of the capital's budget expenses are allocated to compensate for losses of heating supply companies due to the use of reduced tariffs for residents. In 2024, it is planned to allocate 1.97 trillion UZS for this purpose, which is 22.8% more than the forecast for 2023 (1.6 trillion UZS).
