Uzbekistan sees rise in number of students studying abroad
According to the Statistics Agency, around 25,800 citizens of Uzbekistan traveled abroad for educational purposes between January and August 2024. This represents an increase of 602 individuals or 2.4% compared to the same period last year.
Tajikistan remains the most popular destination for Uzbek students, with 10,701 citizens studying there during the first eight months of 2024. Russia follows with 6,032 students, while Kyrgyzstan has attracted 2,408 Uzbek students.
Turkey, South Korea, and Kazakhstan are also notable destinations for Uzbek students, with 1,640, 1,383, and 1,102 students respectively. Additionally, smaller numbers of students have chosen China (507), the United Kingdom (475), the United States (355), and the UAE (238). Other countries account for 974 students.
