Uzbekistan’s futsal team coach dismissed after World Cup defeat
The Uzbekistan Football Association (UFA) has held a critical meeting to assess the national futsal team’s underwhelming performance in the recent Futsal World Cup. During the meeting, the leadership, including head coach José Venancio López, reviewed the team’s shortcomings in the tournament.
The UFA officials and López analyzed the team’s weaknesses, focusing on areas for improvement and the need to eliminate errors. Proposals were made to address the issues, such as establishing futsal teams in various age categories and increasing the number of club-level tournaments to develop young talent.
López expressed his gratitude to the UFA leadership for the opportunity to lead the team. The Spanish coach also stated that he intends to maintain friendly relations with the association and is ready to assist in the future.
Ravshan Irmatov, UFA’s First Vice President, thanked López for his contributions to the team and wished him success in his future endeavors. The meeting concluded with the termination of López's contract as head coach of the Uzbekistan national futsal team.
This marks the end of López’s tenure, which has been a period of both challenges and achievements for Uzbekistan's futsal scene.
