Natural gas and electricity theft in Uzbekistan reaches alarming levels
Over 1,600 cases of illegal use of natural gas and electricity were reported in Uzbekistan in November, resulting in energy theft valued at 160 billion UZS.
The findings came from monitoring activities conducted by UzEnergoInspection in collaboration with law enforcement agencies.
According to the report, the unauthorized use included 24.1 million cubic meters of natural gas, causing losses of 70.1 billion sums, and 38.6 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, with damages amounting to 90.4 billion UZS.
Authorities have taken action against the offenders in accordance with legal procedures, and all relevant documentation has been forwarded to law enforcement for further investigation.
