President Mirziyoyev pardons 483 convicted individuals
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has signed a decree pardoning 483 individuals serving prison sentences.

The decree, titled “On Pardoning a Group of Convicted Individuals Who Sincerely Regret Their Actions and Have Taken a Firm Path to Rehabilitation,” was issued in observance of the 32nd anniversary of the adoption of Uzbekistan’s Constitution, according to the presidential press service.
The decree is based on Article 109, Paragraph 23 of the Constitution and focuses on individuals who committed offenses unintentionally, expressed genuine remorse for their actions, and demonstrated significant progress toward rehabilitation.
Of the pardoned individuals:
• 107 will be fully released from serving their sentences
• 275 will be granted conditional early release
• 7 will have their sentences replaced with lighter penalties
• 94 will have the duration of their prison terms reduced
The pardons encompass diverse groups, including 25 foreign nationals, 32 women, 5 men aged over 60, and 274 youths, among whom 104 are minors. Additionally, 6 individuals who were involved in activities of prohibited organizations have also been pardoned.
The decree emphasizes reintegration efforts, instructing relevant ministries and agencies to assist the pardoned individuals in reuniting with their families and reintegrating into society. Measures include facilitating their adaptation to social life, engaging them in productive employment, promoting healthy lifestyles, and helping them secure a respectable place within the community.
