Gov't introduces new tax benefits for hospitality, catering, and tourism sectors
Starting January 1, 2025, Uzbekistan will introduce new tax incentives to support the catering, hospitality, and tourism sectors.
According to the changes, the corporate income tax rate for catering establishments will be reduced by 50% and will remain at this level until 2028. Additionally, entrepreneurs working in this sector will be eligible for VAT reimbursement from the national budget. The amount of compensation will depend on the share of cashless transactions: if more than 60% of turnover is conducted via cashless payments, entrepreneurs will be able to recover up to 40% of the VAT paid to the budget. If the share of cashless transactions is lower, the compensation will amount to 20%.
Tax benefits are also provided for the hotel industry and tour operators. These businesses will be able to recover 20% of the VAT paid.
The new measures are aimed at encouraging the use of cashless transactions, supporting key sectors of the economy, and reducing the financial burden on businesses.
