Uzbekistan’s ambassador presents credentials to European Commission President
The Head of Uzbekistan’s Mission to the European Union, Ambassador Gayrat Fozilov, has officially presented his credentials to Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission.
Following the official ceremony, the parties held a meeting during which Ursula von der Leyen praised the outcomes of the inaugural Central Asia – European Union summit held in April in Samarkand.
The European Commission President reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan and the broader Central Asian region.
For context, Gayrat Fozilov – formerly Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs – was appointed Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Belgium in 2023 and, in 2024, was also accredited as the country’s Ambassador to the Netherlands.
