The Fergana Regional Department of Internal Affairs has confirmed the dismissal of Lieutenant Colonel Akmal Akhmedov, who served as the head of the Regional Road Traffic Safety Department. The department’s press service issued an official statement regarding the matter.
“At a time when efforts are being made to cleanse the system of corruption and bribery, it was discovered that the department head attempted to illegally conceal traffic violations committed by a Malibu-2 vehicle belonging to a close relative,” the statement reads.
According to the report, the Minister of Internal Affairs issued an official order to relieve Lieutenant Colonel Akmal Akhmedov of his duties. Currently, additional investigations are underway to conduct a full legal assessment of the offense.
It was also noted that all fines related to violations committed by the Malibu vehicle with the license plate number 40 081 SBA have now been fully collected.
Earlier reports revealed that the Malibu vehicle, for which multiple fines had been previously canceled by traffic police officers in Fergana, belonged to the wife of Lieutenant Colonel Akmal Akhmedov, the head of the regional traffic safety department.
