The United Kingdom plans to raise quotas for seasonal workers from Uzbekistan, the Migration Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
Behzod Musaev, head of the agency, and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to London, Ravshan Usmanov, held talks with David Camp, CEO of the UK Association of Labour Providers (ALP), to discuss the recruitment of Uzbek workers in agriculture and other sectors.
“We are ready to enter a new stage of partnership with the Migration Agency in placing young Uzbek workers at enterprises across England,” Camp said.
The parties agreed to increase seasonal work quotas for Uzbek citizens and to ensure safe and organized recruitment. Plans were also made to conclude agreements with new seasonal operators.
Earlier, Musaev and Usmanov met with Elysia McCaffrey, head of the UK Government’s Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA), which licenses private employment and recruitment agencies and oversees their activities.
Following the meetings, a memorandum of cooperation on labor migration was signed. The British government will increase labor quotas for Uzbekistan and ensure the protection of migrant workers’ rights in the country.
