Uzbekistan and Jordan expand cooperation in uranium and mineral exploration

According to the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology, a bilateral working group will study promising deposits and oversee implementation of the newly approved roadmap.

A delegation led by Deputy Minister of Geology Rustam Yusupov visited Amman last week on a working trip. The talks involved representatives of the Uzbek Technological Metals Plant, Uzbek Overseas Geology Company, and Navoiyuran.

During discussions with Jordan’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the sides reviewed the implementation of joint projects, including geological exploration. Specialists from Navoiuran and the Jordan Uranium Mining Company (JUMCO) jointly examined prospective uranium sites.

The National Arab Mining Company (NAMC) signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Uzbek side in the areas of copper, rare metals, and other minerals vital for industry. The parties also approved a roadmap for joint activities.

Following the meeting, a bilateral working group was established, comprising representatives of the relevant ministries, NAMC, and JUMCO. The group is expected to carry out a detailed study of data on promising deposits of uranium and non-ferrous metals.
