Andijan judge sentenced to 10.5 years in prison for fraud
A Khanabad city court judge in Andijan has been convicted of fraud and sentenced to prison, according to the Supreme Court.
In May this year, it was reported that the chairperson of the Khanabad City Court in Andijan region, identified as Y.E., was detained in Tashkent while accepting a $30,000 bribe.
The Supreme Court later confirmed that the 51-year-old Y.E. had been brought to criminal liability.
The court found Y.E. guilty under Article 168, Part 4 (a) – fraud – and Article 211, Part 3 (a) of the Criminal Code, and sentenced him to 10.5 years in prison. In addition, he was barred from holding official positions or working in the judiciary and law enforcement bodies for a period of 2.5 years following his release.
