Wolt announces exit from Uzbekistan market

Food delivery platform Wolt will discontinue its operations in Uzbekistan, ending its presence in the country after around one and a half years. The decision, effective March 5, 2026, was announced via Wolt’s mobile application and official website, with users no longer able to place orders through the app or website from that date.

“We will be permanently closing our service in Uzbekistan. From March 5, 2026, you’ll no longer be able to place orders through our app or website. We understand this may be disappointing or inconvenient. Being part of your everyday meals, busy days, and special moments has meant a lot to us, and we’re truly grateful that you chose to order with us. Our priority over the coming weeks is to make this transition as smooth and straightforward as possible for you – by continuing to deliver existing orders, handling refunds and credits, and keeping customer support available to help with any questions,” the company said in a statement.

Part of a broader strategic shift

The withdrawal from Uzbekistan is part of a wider review by parent company DoorDash (DASH), which also announced it will wind down Deliveroo and Wolt operations in Qatar, Singapore, and Japan. The company said the move reflects its focus on “investing where it sees the clearest path to sustainable scale and long-term leadership.”

“Our priority is supporting our teams and partners through an orderly transition as we focus on the geographies where we can offer the best products and build for long-term success,” said Miki Kuusi, head of DoorDash International, CEO of Deliveroo, and co-founder of Wolt.

DoorDash plans limited operational changes in select markets, including strategic investments in certain engineering roles in the UK. The company does not expect these actions to materially impact its financial guidance.

Wolt’s brief presence in Uzbekistan

Founded in Finland in 2014, Wolt had expanded to more than 32 countries by early 2025. Its early expansion markets included Sweden, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. The platform began entering Central Asia in 2019, starting with Kazakhstan, before officially launching in Uzbekistan in October 2024.

DoorDash acquired Wolt in 2022 for $8.1 billion and British delivery firm Deliveroo for $3.9 billion in 2025, consolidating its international delivery portfolio.
