Uzbekistan to establish Academy of Agricultural Sciences

Uzbekistan will establish a new scientific institution aimed at strengthening research in the agricultural sector and supporting the scientific development of the agro-industrial complex.

The initiative will be carried out in accordance with the presidential decree titled “On measures to establish the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Uzbekistan under the Ministry of Agriculture.”

According to the decree, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Uzbekistan will be created on the basis of the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture, which operates under the Ministry of Agriculture.

The academy will function as a state scientific institution responsible for directing fundamental and applied research in agriculture, determining both short-term and long-term scientific programs, and coordinating the scientific development of the country’s agro-industrial complex.

Under the document, draft regulatory and legal acts related to agricultural and land relations reforms will undergo mandatory scientific examination at the academy during the coordination process with the Ministry of Agriculture.

The decree also introduces a system of scientific titles within the academy. These will include young academician, professor of the academy, corresponding member of the academy, full member of the academy (academician), and foreign member of the academy.

The establishment of the academy is expected to increase the effectiveness of scientific research in the agricultural sector, promote the wider implementation of innovative developments in practice, and provide scientific support for ongoing agricultural reforms in Uzbekistan.
