Uzbekistan welcomes Pakistan-mediated ceasefire between the US and Iran
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan has issued an official statement welcoming the announcement of a ceasefire and the establishment of a truce in the Middle East, achieved through the mediation of the Pakistani leadership.
The MFA described the development as a crucial step toward de-escalating regional tensions and creating the necessary conditions for political and diplomatic dialogue. The ministry emphasized that this agreement provides a vital opportunity for all involved parties to seek mutually acceptable solutions to longstanding grievances.
In its official communication, Uzbekistan called upon all sides to exercise maximum restraint and to refrain from any actions that could lead to a renewed escalation of the situation. The statement further urged a continued commitment to constructive cooperation in order to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.
Reaffirming its long-standing diplomatic stance, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Uzbekistan remains firm in its position that all conflicts must be resolved exclusively through peaceful means. The ministry underscored that such resolutions must be carried out in strict accordance with the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter.
The announcement of this truce follows reports of a two-week ceasefire initially declared by the United States, which the Iranian government subsequently confirmed its willingness to observe. Despite the fragile nature of the agreement, Tashkent views the cessation of hostilities as a primary requirement for humanitarian relief and the broader security of the international community.
