According to the Dunyo news agency, the two officials identified significant untapped potential for partnership between the two countries.

The dialogue comes as Algeria undergoes a structural reorganization of its government, having recently established the Ministry of Mines and Mining Industries as a standalone entity. This shift reflects Algeria's strategic focus on diversifying its economy and maximizing the use of its vast natural resources. As the largest country in Africa by landmass, Algeria holds substantial reserves of phosphates, iron, and zinc, and is currently pursuing several large-scale extraction and processing projects with international partners.

During the talks, Minister Hanifi emphasized that Algeria is actively seeking modern technology and technical know-how in geological prospecting. He noted that legislative reforms enacted in 2025 were specifically designed to streamline the management of mineral resources, attract foreign investment, and modernize industry governance. These reforms aim to create a favorable environment for foreign capital while ensuring the state maintains strategic oversight of the sector.

The Algerian side expressed a particular interest in collaborating with Uzbekistan, citing the country's established expertise in the field. Key areas of proposed cooperation include:

  • Conducting joint geological exploration and prospecting activities.
  • Collaborating on scientific research and the training of specialized personnel.
  • Exploring the potential supply of uranium to Algeria and broader African markets.

The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to deepening international cooperation, with both sides acknowledging that combining Uzbek technology with Algerian mineral wealth could signal a new phase of economic development for both regions.
