German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier to visit Uzbekistan during Asian tour
Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is scheduled to visit Uzbekistan as part of an upcoming five-day tour across Asia. The official visit will also include stops in Indonesia and the Philippines. Steinmeier will be accompanied on his journey by his spouse and a high-level business delegation.
While in Tashkent, the German President plans to visit a local branch of the prominent German construction company GP Günter Papenburg. This stop highlights the growing commercial and industrial ties between the two countries, which the accompanying business delegation looks to expand further.
Discussions during the state visit are expected to center heavily on skilled labor migration. Germany has been actively seeking to establish structured pathways for qualified foreign workers, making cooperation with Central Asian nations a key priority.
According to figures from the German presidential administration, Uzbekistan holds a unique cultural connection to Germany, boasting more people learning the German language than any other country in Asia. This strong educational foundation is seen as a major advantage for future bilateral agreements on labor mobility and academic exchange.
