Uzbekistan and Albania outline joint programs in green energy, trade, and tourism
Official delegations led by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Bajram Begaj held comprehensive talks at the Kuksaroy presidential residence in Tashkent. The high-level meeting focused heavily on establishing practical frameworks to expand economic, trade, and logistical cooperation.
President Mirziyoyev noted that this first-ever bilateral summit marks an important milestone in the relationship, effectively elevating Uzbek–Albanian interactions to a new level. The two leaders welcomed the intensification of political dialogue and multi-level contacts, highlighting their ongoing mutual support within the United Nations and other major international organizations.

A central theme of the negotiations was the substantial expansion of trade volume and the formulation of an extensive, long-term cooperation program. Key sectors slated for joint development include the agricultural complex, green energy, geological exploration, information technology, digitalization, and tourism.
Logistics and transit routes also emerged as a significant talking point. The delegations agreed to analyze the strategic feasibility of utilizing Albania’s Port of Durres as a transit and logistics hub. This pathway would provide Uzbek manufactured goods and agricultural exports with enhanced, direct access to the wider Mediterranean and Southern European markets.

Recognizing that expanding commercial ties requires a robust institutional foundation, both heads of state stressed the importance of strengthening the legal framework for investment and trade. To drive these initiatives forward, the sides agreed to establish a new Intergovernmental Commission. The inaugural meeting of the commission is scheduled to take place in Tashkent before the end of this year.

In the cultural and humanitarian sphere, the leaders advocated for increased public engagement through mutual cultural exchanges. The proposed initiatives include organizing alternating cultural days, national film screenings, art exhibitions, and theatrical tours. The two presidents concluded their session by exchanging views on pressing matters currently shaping the regional and international political landscape.
