German refereeing team to officiate Uzbekistan–DR Congo World Cup clash
The refereeing crew for the upcoming group stage match between Uzbekistan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo at the FIFA World Cup has been announced, according to the Uzbekistan Football Association.
The match, which takes place during the third round of the group stage of the tournament being co-hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, carries significant weight as it could decide which team secures a spot in the knockout stage playoffs.
Experienced German FIFA referee Felix Zwayer has been appointed to officiate the high-stakes encounter as the head referee. He will be supported on the touchlines by his compatriots Robert Kempter and Christian Dietz, who will serve as the assistant referees.
Beyond the German officiating trio, representatives from the Spanish refereeing corps will oversee auxiliary duties on the sidelines. Alejandro Hernández has been designated as the fourth official, while Diego Sánchez will fulfill the role of the fifth official.
The crucial group stage finale between the national teams of Uzbekistan and the DR Congo is scheduled to take place on June 28 at the Atlanta stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.
