President Mirziyoyev calls for stronger partnership with IMF
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Bo Li, Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), on June 29 to discuss expanding cooperation on Uzbekistan's economic reform agenda.
Bo Li is visiting Uzbekistan to attend a meeting of the Swiss Constituency of the IMF Executive Board.
At the start of the meeting, he conveyed greetings and best wishes from IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva to President Mirziyoyev.


The sides exchanged views on current trends in global financial markets before turning to ways of deepening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IMF.
The parties also discussed expanding the Fund's expert and technical support in several priority areas, including macroeconomic policymaking, the development of a national digital payments strategy, capital account liberalization, improvements to official statistics and public revenue management, as well as preserving a market-based exchange rate.

The meeting also stressed the importance of broadening training and capacity-building programs for specialists working in Uzbekistan's economic institutions.
