Household borrowing grows faster than corporate lending
As of July 1, 2026, the total outstanding loan portfolio of the country's banks stood at UZS 642.8 trillion, up UZS 67.6 trillion compared with the same period a year earlier.
Households accounted for UZS 235.86 trillion of the total. A year earlier, their outstanding debt amounted to UZS 196.9 trillion, meaning household borrowing increased by UZS 39.5 trillion over the 12-month period.
Outstanding loans to businesses reached UZS 406.94 trillion, an increase of UZS 28.6 trillion compared with July 2025.
The figures indicate that household borrowing expanded at a faster pace than corporate lending during the reporting period.
State-owned banks remain dominant lenders
State-owned banks accounted for UZS 422.2 trillion of the total outstanding loan portfolio, up from UZS 394.2 trillion a year earlier.
Private banks held UZS 220.5 trillion in outstanding loans, compared with UZS 181 trillion in the corresponding period of 2025.
Overall, the outstanding loan portfolio of state-owned banks grew by UZS 28 trillion over the year, while private banks recorded a larger increase of UZS 39.5 trillion.
Among all lenders, the National Bank of Uzbekistan (NBU) had the largest outstanding loan portfolio at UZS 107.1 trillion, followed by Agrobank with UZS 91.2 trillion. Among private lenders, Kapitalbank ranked first with UZS 38.3 trillion in outstanding loans.
