According to the National Statistics Committee, the company produced 82,951 Cobalt vehicles in January–June, up by 9,800 units, or 13.5%, from the same period last year.

Sales on the domestic market moved in the opposite direction. Data provided by Uzavtosanoat show that UzAuto Motors sold 40,936 Cobalt cars to local buyers during the first six months of the year, equivalent to just 49% of its production during the period.

The remaining vehicles may have been exported or remained in stock, although official data do not provide a breakdown of Cobalt production by destination.

Domestic sales of the model fell by 39% year-on-year, from 67,580 units in the first half of 2025 to 40,936 units this year. That represents a decline of 26,644 vehicles.

The drop in domestic Cobalt sales comes despite an increase in production of the model, which remains one of UzAuto Motors’ most popular vehicles.

Kazakhstan emerges as a stronger export market

Kazakhstan, one of UzAuto Motors’ main export markets, recorded a sharp increase in Chevrolet sales during the first half of 2026.

According to the Kazakhstan Automobile Union, Chevrolet sales in the country’s new-car market rose by 32% year-on-year to 17,586 vehicles in January–June. Cobalt accounted for 16,370 of those sales.

The figures put Chevrolet at the top of Kazakhstan’s best-selling automotive brands during the period.

Hyundai ranked second, with sales falling 28.6% to 17,247 vehicles, including 8,601 Tucson models. Kia ranked third with 12,332 sales, up 8.9%, with the Sportage accounting for 5,200 units.

Uzbekistan exported $130.4 million worth of automobiles in the first half of 2026, down 5% from a year earlier, according to official statistics.

However, the National Statistics Committee, Uzavtosanoat and UzAuto Motors do not publish detailed data on vehicle exports by model or physical volume, making it difficult to determine how many Cobalt cars produced in Uzbekistan were shipped abroad.
