The delegation included US Representatives Jason Smith, Greg Murphy, Ronny Jackson and Edward Case.
The lawmakers congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan on the country’s 35th anniversary of independence.
The meeting focused on further developing the Uzbek-US strategic partnership and expanding interparliamentary ties. The two sides noted the positive momentum in bilateral relations, including intensified political dialogue, more frequent high-level contacts and reciprocal visits.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and US President Donald Trump recently discussed priorities for further expanding the strategic partnership during a telephone conversation.
Particular attention was given to trade and investment cooperation. Bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and the United States has increased by 20% since the beginning of the year, according to the presidential press service.
The two countries are also implementing a three-year Economic Cooperation Program covering major projects in energy, critical minerals, transport, agriculture, digital technologies and industry.
The meeting highlighted the role of the US Congress in supporting Uzbekistan’s ongoing reforms and promoting constructive and mutually beneficial ties between the two countries.
The parties also discussed expanding direct links between Uzbekistan and the US states represented by members of the delegation – Missouri, North Carolina, Texas and Hawaii.
They expressed readiness to further develop interregional cooperation and launch joint projects involving these states.
The meeting also included an exchange of views on current regional and international issues. The parties agreed to facilitate reciprocal visits by business delegations to promote economic ties and identify new opportunities for cooperation.
