The measures were discussed in Ankara at the second meeting of the trade working group between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade and Turkey’s Ministry of Trade.
The two sides examined measures to remove existing tariff and non-tariff barriers and make it easier for goods to enter each other’s markets. Agriculture, electrical engineering, light industry and other sectors with potential to expand bilateral supplies received particular attention.
The discussions also covered technical regulation, standardization and product conformity assessment. Officials explored the mutual recognition of conformity certificates and ways to simplify customs procedures.

To speed up the resolution of issues involving technical requirements and conformity assessment for electrical products, the two sides agreed to establish a technical working group comprising relevant specialists.
The meeting also included technical consultations on an expanded version of the preferential trade agreement between Uzbekistan and Turkey. The discussions focused on broadening the agreement’s coverage, establishing mutually beneficial trading conditions and creating additional opportunities for exporters in both countries.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a protocol formalizing the working group’s agreements.
