The issue was considered at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev and the Chinese delegation led by Zhou Xinhuai, a member of CNPC’s board of directors and the company’s president.
Khodjaev noted that Uzbekistan was among the first countries Zhou visited after taking up his new position.
The two sides focused on advancing an underground gas storage project, improving the reliability of Uzbekistan’s gas transportation system and developing new hydrocarbon deposits.
Khodjaev welcomed CNPC’s interest in expanding its investment in Uzbekistan and said the country was open to considering new proposals on mutually beneficial terms.
CNPC is China’s largest oil and gas company and ranks among the world’s largest corporations in the Fortune Global 500. It is also a key partner in Uzbekistan’s oil and gas industry.
