Road accidents decreased by 30% after reducing the speed limit to 60 km/h
It was reported that more than 2,500 cameras and radars have been installed on the roads of Uzbekistan. According to the President’s meeting, when the speed limit in cities was reduced to 60 km/h, accidents decreased by 30% in the areas where cameras were installed.

To date, more than 2,500 cameras and radars have been installed in Uzbekistan to record traffic violations. It was announced at the meeting chaired by the President.
It is noted that accidents have decreased by 30% at places where cameras have been installed due to the reduction of traffic in residential areas to 60 kilometers per hour.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that it is necessary to continue these works, to introduce the “smart intersection” and “smart traffic light” control systems more widely.
It should be recalled that the maximum speed of car traffic in all cities of Uzbekistan, especially in the centers of districts, was reduced from 70 to 60 kilometers per hour starting from April 1, 2023.
Earlier, it was reported that 1,115 people died in accidents during the 7 months of 2023.
