Uzbek Agency for Press and Information becomes a structure under the presidential administration

On February 1, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree on reforming the Uzbek Agency for Press and Information. In its place, the Agency of Information and Mass Communications has been formed under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The Agency was removed from the jurisdiction of the Cabinet of Ministers and became the authorized body in developing and implementing the state information policy. Kun.uz correspondent reported referring to a governmental source.

The main tasks of the reformed Agency are development of the media, improvement of the work of the ministerial press services, ensuring the openness of state bodies.

All public authorities and administrations are obliged to follow instructions of the Agency in the information sphere.
