Islamic Development Bank to boost investment in Uzbekistan’s infrastructure, education, and agricultural projects
Prospects for expanding the Islamic Development Bank's participation in important programs aimed at supporting women and youth in Uzbekistan were discussed.
Uzbekistan's Ambassador, Nodirjon Turghunov, held a meeting with Anasse Aissami, Director of the Operations Policy and Services Department at the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).
At the meeting, the parties discussed further accelerating cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank, increasing preferential financing of major projects being developed in the country, supporting women and youth, and attracting technical and humanitarian assistance.
Anasse Aissami noted that the changes observed in Uzbekistan in recent years are being closely watched with great interest by the world. Considering the successful implementation of the 2018-2022 cooperation strategy between Uzbekistan and the Islamic Development Bank, it was announced that a similar strategy has been developed for 2022-2026.
The parties exchanged views on the prospects for financing projects in areas such as transport, logistics, education, agriculture, water, environment, livestock, rural development, and others. Additionally, the prospects for expanding the Islamic Development Bank's participation in important programs aimed at supporting women and youth in Uzbekistan were discussed.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continuously monitor the implementation of projects being carried out by the bank and to organize a practical visit by bank representatives to Uzbekistan to discuss future joint projects.
