Uzbekistan was imported foreign cars worth almost $320 million in 2018
Last year, the Uzbek people brought cars worth almost $320 million into the country, Kun.uz correspondent reports citing the State Statistics Committee data.
At the same time, in 2017, cars were delivered a total of $155,3 million, in 2016 – $193 million and in 2015 – $120,4 million.
Interestingly, parts and components for cars were imported into Uzbekistan for $960 million. This includes parts and large nodes of GM Uzbekistan, of which ready cars are then assembled.
In addition, Uzbekistan was imported a significant amount of foreign tires for $193,3 million.
In 2018, our country exported cars for only $29,3 million and car components – $3,8 million.
Earlier, it was reported that in January-November of last year, Uzbekistan entered the top three importers of Russian cars. 3,100 Russian cars were delivered to the republic.
GM Uzbekistan produced 220,667 vehicles last year. At the end of 2018, for the first time in the history of the company, the record for the monthly production of cars was broken – 34,117 units, which is more than 1,000 vehicles per day. Moreover, the cost of each model was reduced by 10-16%, and imports by $73 million.
