The Ministry of Ecology, Environment and Climate Change signed a memorandum with UAE-based waste management company Tadweer, the press service of the ministry reports.

The memorandum will contribute to the introduction of “green” technologies in the field of solid waste management and increased sustainability.

Tadweer plans to launch a plant in Uzbekistan to produce electricity by burning waste.

Before the launch, a feasibility study of the project in Navoi, Bukhara regions and the Fergana Valley will be studied with an analysis of the situation with waste disposal. A management system for the collection, removal, sorting, processing and disposal of solid household waste will also be developed.

In addition, attention will be paid to the extraction of landfill gas for the production of electrical and thermal energy.

As part of the project, waste sorting lines will be installed at enterprises producing municipal solid waste and facilities will be created for processing secondary raw materials, including plastic, paper, glass and aluminum.
