Two natives of Uzbekistan with British passports head EBRD offices
Two citizens of Uzbekistan have been appointed heads of the representative offices of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
As the press service of the international financial organizations reported, Nodira Mansurova was appointed head of the EBRD office in Tunisia. She will start working in the representative office on September 1.
“Mansurova, a citizen of Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom, joined the EBRD in 2001 as Regional Manager of the Central Asia SME Finance and Development Program in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Mansurova has a wealth of experience working with small businesses in Tunisia, which are an important segment of the economy, along with a reputation for infrastructure business in the region,” the statement said.
It also became known that Kamola Makhmudova will work as the head of the EBRD office in Azerbaijan. The press service of the bank said that she is a citizen of Uzbekistan and Great Britain. Since 2009, she has been working globally, leading the bank’s expansion to the Middle East, North Africa and Cyprus.
“She played a key role in policy dialogue with the International Chamber of Commerce, the World Trade Organization and the International Monetary Fund on trade finance development, regulatory compliance and digitalization of correspondent banking services,” the press service said.
It should be recalled that earlier the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that dual citizenship is not allowed in Uzbekistan.
According to the draft law, which was approved by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, Uzbeks who did not report dual citizenship will be held accountable.
