During the discussions, the expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EBRD was addressed, with a focus on attracting funding to sectors previously not financed by the bank, establishing closer connections between entrepreneurs in the republic and the financial institution, and strengthening their collaboration.
As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to expand the scope of projects aimed at developing the private sector in Uzbekistan, ensure the country’s energy sustainability through renewable sources, finance high-priority infrastructure projects at the national level, and fund socially significant projects based on public-private partnerships.
Uzbekistan has been a member of the EBRD since 1992. Over the past 32 years, the bank has financed 170 projects in Uzbekistan, with a total value of 5.1 billion euros. Currently, 52% of the projects being implemented are attributed to the private sector.
