Uzbekistan discusses issues of accession to the WTO

On Sept. 28, negotiations will be held on Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization in Astana, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan reports.

The Minister of Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev will hold negotiations with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization Roberto Azevêdo in the framework of the High-Level Forum on “Promoting Trade and Investment for Development: the Eurasian View”. The aim of the forum is to support dialogue on new WTO rules in the field of investment promotion.

During the talks Jamshid Khodjaev and Roberto Azevêdo plan to discuss the issues of Uzbekistan's cooperation with the WTO. In particular, the preparation of the necessary documents during the process of Uzbekistan's accession to this organization, the expansion of the participation of the republic's representatives in the events organized by the WTO, and other issues.

It should be reminded that the resumption of the process of Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO is indicated by President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the Strategy of Actions of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2017-2021 as one of the key directions of the country's development in the trade and economic areas.
