“Smart traffic lights” to be installed in Tashkent
Tashkent city administration plans to introduce a new project: “smart traffic lights”.
The project, along with other issues related to introduction of new technologies in the urban transport infrastructure, was discussed at the meeting of Transportation Department in Tashkent. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Innovation Development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and ABL-SOFT local software developers.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on improving public transportation system, creating free Wi-Fi bus stops and constructing high-quality cell phone charging stations in Tashkent. Besides, attracting other institutions, directly involved in the project, was set as a top-priority task.
The Ministry proposed to implement the first “test mode” of the project in Nurafshan Street, where Beruniy and Labzak Streets cross.
However, representatives of Tashkent city administration and the Ministry of Internal Affairs said the project should cover all the area from Nurafshan Street to Oktepa traffic circle.
The issue is to be resolved soon.
