Corrupt UzLidep deputy explains why he demanded $ 500
On Sept. 22, a member of the Namangan Regional Council of Deputies Olimjon Tukhtanazarov was caught while taking $ 500 in bribe from a Chust district local I.M., the General Prosecutor’s Office said.
A Chust resident I.M., who previously worked as the head of a local school in Pop district, was convicted and sacked on Oct. 14, 2017, what he says unfairly. Seeking for justice he asked Olimjon Tukhtanazarov for help on Set. 3, 2018. The UzLidep deputy promising to help him to annul the court’s decision through his “close contacts”, demanded $ 500 for his service.
He was arrested while taking the money.
When asked about his delinquency, the MP said he wanted to use the money for his own needs and that he feels sorry for his criminal behavior, a special report by the “Uzbekistan 24” TV channel informs.
It should be noted that Mr. Tukhtanazarov was quite an eminent figure on social websites, such as Facebook, for his anti-corruption posts. His proposal to nominate Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the Nobel Peace Prize rocketed him to fame.
On Sept. 22, 2018, a criminal case was instituted against Olimjon Tukhtanazarov in accordance with Article 168, part 3, and Article 211 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and was arrested on the same day with the consent of the Namangan Regional Council of Deputies.
