Justice authorities halted the manufacturing of the counterfeit drug, Besetol, which was produced by the Namangan-based company, LLC P.S. The drug’s name and branding were found to be misleadingly similar to Biseptol, a product owned by the Polish pharmaceutical company ADAMED PHARMA S.A.
Investigators determined that the imitation could deceive consumers into believing the counterfeit product was affiliated with the legitimate trademark.
As a result of the violation, LLC P.S. was fined 100 base calculation units (equivalent to 37.5 million UZS) for unauthorized use of a trademarked designation.
Authorities confirmed that the production and distribution of Besetol have been terminated.
