Mirziyoyev orders to issue government securities
On Oct. 10, 2018, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers and heads of economic departments to discuss the pace of country’s socio-economic development in the first nine months of the current year and expected results by the end of 2018.
It is noted that the liberalization of the currency market in the country requires increasing the liquidity level in the economy and directing free funds to implementation of important investment and infrastructure projects.
In compliance with the Strategy of Actions, the head of state gave proper instructions for development of capital market in the country, issuance of securities for the implementation of key investment projects involving free assets of business entities, commercial banks and insurance companies.
It should be reminded that Uzbekistan ceased issuing securities in 2011. From 1996 to 2011, the Ministry of Finance issued security assets worth 803 billion sums, whose nominal value was around 50 billion UZS.
