Khokim of Urgench district dismissed

On October 15, Otabek Bekchanov, khokim (mayor) of Urgench district, was dismissed, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

In this regard, Kudrat Rajapov, Deputy of Bekchanov on Agriculture, has taken the role of temporary acting khokim (mayor).

Bekchanov was discharged from his post on Oct. 14, following the selector meeting led by the Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov. At the meeting, results of the cotton harvesting campaign was harshly criticized as the plan set was completed only 25-40 % percent in many areas.

Earlier it was reported that over 100 officials and heads of sectors could face disciplinary measures (dismissal, deprivation of two months' wages, rebuke) for impassiveness in the cotton-harvesting campaign.
