Uzbek boxer reaches the final at the Summer Youth Olympic Games
Out of three Uzbek boxers, who contested in the semi-finals at Buenos Aires 2018, only one reached the final.
On Oct. 16, Abdumalik Khalokov, an Uzbek boxer, battled with Cuello Mirko Jeheil of Argentina in the weight category up to 56 kg and defeated him, securing a ticket to the final of the championship.
Jahongir Rakhmonov, in the weight class up to 69 kg, and Timur Merjanov in the weight class up to 81 kg lost to Augustin Arregui and Ruslan Kolesnikov respectively, saving the chance to claim the bronze only.
Tonight, Rakhmonov is to fight Azerbaijani Nijat Khasanov for the third place and tomorrow Khalokov will clash with Maksim Kalinichyev of Ukraine for the title of champion.
Later, Timur Merjanov will face Egyptian Yusuf Ali Karar for a bronze medal.
To date, the national team of Uzbekistan has secured 3 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze medals at the third Summer Youth Olympic Games.
