In accordance with the newly introduced amendments to the Traffic Law of Uzbekistan, fines for non-compliance by drivers with the rules for using seat belts when driving and transporting passengers, is increased up to 0.5 times the minimum wage (before it was 0.2 times the minimum wage).

Penalty for using mobile phones while driving is set as 3 times the minimum wage (before 2 times the MW) in compliance with the law. If the same act of crime is repeated within a year after the issuance of the administrative penalty, the amount of fine will increase up to 4 times the minimum wage or may even cause the driver to be deprived of the driving rights for 6 months.

For increasing the speed of the car over 40 km/h, drivers will be charged with 9 times the minimum wage. If the same offense is repeated within a calendar year, the amount of fine will rise up to 25 times the MW and lead to the deprivation of the right to drive a car for 2 years.
