Uzbekistan to introduce a new National Payment System called “Humo”
After the serious malfunction of UzCard Payment System in September 2018, the President of Uzbekistan instructed the Central Bank to create a National Interbank Processing Center and a new retail payment system.
In this regard, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan has announced a competition among Uzbek citizens to choose a brand name for the new National Payment System.
“The name of the payment system should be unique, consisting of one or two words. Anyone willing to contribute to the creation of a new brand name for the National Payment System can send their proposals to us,” the organizers of the competition noted.
More than 2.4 thousand respondents took part in the voting process at the first stage with different proposals. As a result, 3 brand names were identified as the most popular – Humo, Adras and Anor.
So the second stage of the voting organized in which respondents were asked to choose one of these three options. 45.3% of the 4 thousand total voters chose “Humo” as a brand name for the new National Payment System.
