Law enforcement officers detained a counterfeiter who printed 50,000-sum bills in the Tashkent region, “Uzbekistan 24” TV Channel reports.
This was done by a 22-year-old young man. After studying photo editing courses, he got a color printer and set up the production of 50,000-sum bills at home.
“I worked as a cameraman at weddings and birthdays. In February this year, I decided to print 50,000-sum bills and produced around 30 units. Then I used them in markets in Almalyk district, Tashkent region. Nobody got wind of it as I managed to use them twice,” the counterfeiter noted.
He was later detained by law enforcement agencies, and a criminal case was opened on this fact under Article 176 (Production, sale of counterfeit money, excise stamps or securities) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
Since the beginning of the year, 51 cases related to money counterfeiting were recorded in Uzbekistan. Most of them were in Tashkent (18), Tashkent region (15) and Samarkand (6).
Law enforcement officers seized fake money from criminals in the amount of 5 thousand dollars, 5 thousand rubles and 5.3 million sums.
