Road markings for cycling appeared in Tashkent

Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent along with city administration, as an experiment, placed road markings along Shota Rustaveli Street, allotting space for parking and cycling.

Earlier, the officials of the Uzbek capital, reportedly, wanted to create a single parking space with a centralized information system in order to reduce congestion on roads.

In August, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev declared that he wanted Uzbek people to use bicycles instead of cars. In his opinion, it is necessary to increase the number of bicycle lanes in the republic and promote this type of transportation.

In addition, in summer, there were lectures held in Tashkent on the formation of the transport system in the city and on the bicycle infrastructure. Experts discussed with the townspeople the possible ways to develop bicycle routes in Tashkent.
