Uzbekistan Airways: “We can transport more tourists, but there are not enough places in hotels”
In accordance with the report of the company’s press service, “Uzbekistan Airways” transported 2.6 million passengers in January-October 2018. Of these, 908,000 were transported to far away countries, 1,2 million to the CIS states and 510,000 within Uzbekistan.
At the same time, if last year the company made 19,300 flights, this year it was 18,400. It was reminded in the company’s report that in domestic flights, the fleet of aircrafts was optimized. In particular, IL-114 planes (52 seats) were replaced with the planes of Airbus A-320 (150 seats).
It was recalled that in 2018, the geography of flights expanded - flights to new destinations such as Vladivostok, Jeddah and Mumbai are being made. Also, the number of flights to many other destinations has been increased, such as to Istanbul, Moscow, Paris, Minsk, Urgench, Bukhara and other cities of the world.
“The capacities of “Uzbekistan Airways” allow us to carry more tourists, but an analysis has shown that during the tourist season, foreign and local tour operators face problems of booking hotel rooms in the areas,” the report reads.
There is also a separate pricing policy for domestic flights:
“For example, Tashkent-Samarkand flight cost starts from € 9 per passenger, but Namangan-Fergana flight costs € 10. For comparison, domestic flights from Almaty to Astana (1,5 hours) are rated from € 90 per traveler,” said in the report.
