Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN

On November 27, 2018, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who visited Switzerland to attend the International Conference on Afghanistan, met with the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations/Director General of the UN Office in Geneva Michael Møller, the press service of the MFA reported.

During the conversation, the parties discussed issues of strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN in various fields. Primary attention was paid to the implementation of the initiatives put forward by the President of Uzbekistan at the rostrum of the General Assembly.

Michael Møller shared his impressions of participation at the Asian Forum on Human Rights in Samarkand, stressing the absolute importance of its results not only for Uzbekistan, but also for the vast region as a whole.

The contribution of Uzbekistan to strengthening the foundations of the UN (security, development and human rights) in the context of comprehensive reforms and Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s efforts in strengthening ties with neighboring states were especially noted.

The sides also exchanged views on the agenda of the International Conference on Afghanistan.
